Guddu, Tinu and the Little Monster

Guddu and Tinu are two bosom friends. Do you know that they have another playmate plus a teacher? She is Little Miss Shino who goes to her nursery school. Guddu and Tinu are her dearest dolls. Guddu is a boy doll and Tinu is a girl doll. But, don’t think that the dolls can’t talk or play or sing or dance with their teacher friend. They can do everything what Little Miss Shino can does. When they make noise, the teacher says, “Stop talking to each other. Be quiet please and do your work. Don’t disturb me.” When they quarrel for silly little things, Miss Shino intervenes and makes them friends again. The little dolls love their teacher and they always happily follow her instruction.

One day Miss Shino hears of a bad monster Corona virus that has attacked the place where she lives with her parents. The monster is so tiny that no one can see it with eyes. But, it can attack anyone who goes out of the house and makes him sick. Miss Shino wants to understand the matter. She asks her father, “Baba, what else can this monster do?” Her father while working on his laptop answers, “If one is caught by this tiny virus, he develops a disease like a fever or a headache. We can prevent that if we stay at home and don’t go out unnecessarily.” Miss Shino gets worried and asks him again, “How can we fight the monster? It must be brave and very powerful.” Father looks at her with a smile and replies, “We can do a big fight if we follow some simple rules. Wash your hands every hour so the monster slips down to the drain and can’t enter your body.” Miss Shino becoming more curious throws her next query, “Is there anything else we should do to defeat the monster?” Father explains to her, “Yes, there is one more rule you should follow. Make sure that you always wear a mask whenever you go out, even to the balcony. That’s called a simple healthy rule, right?” She nods her head in agreement and answers, “Alright, Baba. I will do that always.”

Miss Shino is an obedient girl. Listening to her father’s advice she washes her hands at frequent intervals. She stays at home and never go away alone. She also instructs her dolls, “Guddu and Tinu, now you have to listen to me. There is a dangerous monster Corona virus out there. Don’t be naughty and never go out of your room to play outside. You have to keep that in mind, right?” But Guddu and Tinu are little dolls. Can they always remember what they are told?

In an afternoon Miss Shino is busy with finishing her cup of London Dairy ice-cream. Tinu, the naughtiest one, whispers to Guddu, “Let’s go to the balcony and look at the squirrel who lives on that neem tree.” Guddu forgets his little teacher’s advice. He likes the plan and takes Tinu to the balcony which remains open during the day. A small blue chair is kept there for Miss Shino to sit. The dolls quickly jump on it to see the squirrel who is chasing a sparrow. It happens all of a sudden. The monster Corona who floats in the air gets a quick signal and stares at the dolls. “They are there. It’s time to grab them in my fist.” It begins to come down to get hold of the little ones. Guddu spots the monster first. Being a doll he can see all tiny things that others can’t see. Though small it has an ugly round reddish body with black dots scattered on it. Guddu screams out, “Tinu, there is a monster coming over. Beware of it!” Tinu looks at the ugly creature and cries out in fear. She doesn’t know what to do. Miss Shino hears their cry and immediately rushes to the balcony. She understands the situation and takes out two clean hankies from the drawer. Now she wraps them on her dolls’ faces as their masks. That makes the monster scared. If a face is covered tightly, it cannot catch hold of a kid. Hence, it turns away and flies up swiftly. The little dolls are now safe. They thank Miss Shino and say together, “We’re sorry, Ma’am. We will never do this again.” Miss Shino pats their shoulders and takes them back on their bed.

Guddu and Tinu went to the balcony unnoticed.
